PATNA — Asserting its authority, the newly formed state government has issued a strict 15-day deadline for a former chief minister to vacate her official residence, initiating the latest phase of an eviction process that first began in 2018.

"We are confident the property will be handed over within two weeks, much like we were in 2020," said a spokesperson for the ruling coalition, referencing previous cycles where the family deployed "security concerns" to retain government housing long after losing their official mandates. The current delay has left a newly appointed Dalit minister operating out of temporary accommodations while awaiting access to his designated home.

A representative for the former chief minister condemned the ultimatum as blatant political theater, noting that the state's sudden insistence on moving its own ministers into its own buildings is a petty attempt to disrupt the family's historic entitlement to the premises.
